FOUL STENCHES IN THE AIR: Local Boy - Owner Of a Thriller Heart

I've been waiting ALL week to post this track! This is one BAD ASS mash-up off the infamous "I LOVE D12"co Diamonds" compilations....just about the BEST italo compilations alive!

I just LUV the italo feel they put on the Michael Jackson classic. Better yet, I LUV the second 80's track they mashed into the mix. CHECK IT OUT!!! -- MikeeGB

SCREAM KING: John Carpenter - Michael's Sister

Our next creepy track is from the scream king (or at least one of them), John Carpenter! This man is a horror legend, not only directing but also composing almost all of his movie's soundtracks as well.

This track is from the second installment of his Halloween franchise, usually played when well....Michael's killing. Check out some more of his scores after the jump. Carpenter sure knows how to tweak a synthesizer's knobs and make the sounds eerie! -- MikeeGB

**EDIT** That's actually my 2008 Pumpkin!!

UN-PLEASENT DREAMS: Elvira - Here I Am (Mistress of the Dark)

All hail the queen of midnight horror...ELVIRA!!!

I am the BIGGEST Elvira fan known to man. I constantly sat in front of the TV as a child either watching one of her fabulous re-runs of Elvira's Midnight Madness (one of her early 80's hosting gig of cheesy horror movies), or one of her superior low budget films. My absolute favorite of Elvira's work is the infamous ..Mistress Of The Dark movie.

Released in 1988, the movie naturally wasn't a smash hit, but of course holds till this day an incredibly strong cult following. I remember I lied to my parents and told them I had lost the VHS tape, and never returned it to King Kong Video in Hialeah. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark was all mine!

This track is one of her own. Featured in the ending scene of the movie, Elvira finally makes it out to Vegas to star in her own show. I've also added a YouTube link of the actual scene so you can bask yourself in all of Elvira's glory! UN-PLEASENT DREAMS!!! -- MikeeGB

HALLOWTECHNO: Novy vs. Eniac - Smoke Dis

My favorite time of the year has officially arrived. I love Halloween because of all the spooky debauchery that takes place. It's also a reminder that the next coming months will be filled with family gatherings, great food & booze, fabulous parties, hopefully some sexual endeavors, a brand new year, great hair days, and lots of presents!

We here at Funky Brewster will by any means necessary try to get ourselves and our readers into the Holiday spirit. This entire week will be dedicated to tracks we love that have a very very creepy appeal to them. Our first track which I post on this first chilly day of "Miami Autumn" is a definitely a killer!

This track takes me waaaay back to 1998 when I was sitting on top of plastic castles at 6 A.M with 60" parachute pants at a mini amusement park me and the crew frequented almost every weekend. "Smoke Dis" samples the theme from the movie "Halloween" composed by infamous horror master, John Carpenter (more of his stuff later on in the week!)

Sexy House: The Cube Guys - Te Quiero

So my friend Nando tells me that Roger Sanchez is spinning at Webster Hall. Me, being the lover of sexy house that I am, of course accepts his offer. It was free before 11 anyway, and you can't beat that. I had always listened to Roger's compilations and his beats just completely drove me insane! Despite the fact that I never really thought of listening to jazzy acid house at a club, I went anyway. I was awaiting his legendary "Te Quiero" track, which according to his best friend (who I met when I first moved to NYC, and then lost his business card!!! ugh) is one of his favorite tracks.

This event turned out to be one of the best events I had ever attended in New York City. He played more old school hard house/trance with the vocals of all of his sexy house tracks, except of course "Te Quiero". The music that came out of that DJ booth was out of this universe. The party itself was ostentatiously enthralling! We couldn't decide what room to go into and what boys to stare at, or if to stare at the ladies too, because they too were beautiful. I found a party with a Miami-like atmosphere in Manhattan.

Once we had enough (which we didn't, we just had responsibilities), we went to the car, and I played "Te Quiero" as loud as my system could play it. Despite the fact that we did not hear the song in the event, it definitely defines that legendary night that Nando and I spent listening to Roger Sanchez. - Gr00veMan

Chill Out: Bent - Always

This has got to be one of my favorite chill-out beats of all time! This Nottingham duo has me entranced with their chill-out experiment. I usually play my chill-out playlist when I read, but they have surpassed reading time. Bent, as they like to be called, has several albums out. I've been in love with the song since I lived in Miami, but until recently have I had the time to research this secret gold mine (for the chill-out lovers), and I've discovered that they have more than one album out. I, seriously, need to add more hours to the day, and appoint 1/3 of it just for music, then again, I have entire summers to dedicate more time to music every year =) Enjoy - Gr00veMan

Indietastic: The Faint - The Geeks Were Right

In honor of Tomorrow's show, I obviously would be posting a new song. The last two times The Faint were down south I was dreadfully ill and unfortunately missed both fucking shows. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic to see them Tomorrow @ Culture Room, especially because I've finally warmed up to their new album "Fasciinatiion".

For all those attending the show, come on over and say hello! I promise I won't bite! Enjoy their first single off the new album, "The Geeks Were Right". -- MikeeGB

**EDIT** A few iPhone shots from the show!

Request time!!!! Chris K. an avid Funky Brewster reader has requested a very special song. In case you do not have Roisin Murphy's second album lurking around on your iPod...GET IT NOW!! Roisin was the lead singer of old school dance troupe Moloko, she went solo of course. The ending result was two albums of sheer bliss, although her second effort is entirely better off than her first. Check out our first special request, You Know Me Better! -- MikeeGB

Breaks -N- Beats: Annie Lennox vs. Leftfield - Little Bird

This track is ripped straight from an old ass R-Fresh mix-tape I had back in high school [EDIT] I found the full track on vinyl!! Link has been updated with complete version! I've always loved the original from Annie Lennox, but this breaks mix is just fucking AMAZING!!

Disco but NOT Disco: Peter Godwin - Emotional Disguise

Keeping up with my very post punk/new wave mood this last week or so, here is another of my favorite classics. "Emotional Disguise" was released in 1982 and would serve as Peter Godwin's debut single. A moderate hit next to "Images of Heaven", but by far his best track. I was ecstatic when I found a sealed copy of this 12" at the Hialeah Red, White, and Blue Thrift Store in Flamingo Plaza.

"Who the hell is Peter Godwin" you ask? Well he's just one half of late 70's progressive group Metro. "Who the hell is Metro" you ask? Well who the hell cares. That's why Peter went solo and switched up his musical style!  --MikeeGB

NEW SHIZZ!!: Tiga - Mindimension / The Future

NEW TIGA!!!! Here is the new track off his much anticipated sophomore album which will be released...well who knows....soon hopefully! This track is nothing short of the exquisiteness that you would expect from this Canadian born, absolutely gorgeous male disc jockey.

A few WMC's ago, I had the opportunity to stand a foot away from this man in awe. He's excellent at what he does, god certainly did give him a gift. It also helps that he is SO HOT!

Here is the edit to his new single Mindimension / The Future in all it's 909 kick glory. -- MikeeGB

"Got any E???" : Groovezone - Eisbaer

Ahhhh...what can I say about this record. This song is one of my top 5 tracks ever recorded in the history of music. The original track named "Eisbär" is from German post punk band, Grauzone (which means grey area), which has also been added for your listening pleasure.

In 1997 this crazy Belgian trance DJ decided to take the timeless classic, and put his very "Hey dude, you got some E??" spin on it. The ending result has become one of the songs on the soundtrack of my life. If you remember when a "patio" was non existent in the afterhours world, then you're sure to remember this great anthem! POOOOOKIE HEAAAADDDDSSS!! -- MikeeGB
